Probably the biggest dear hunt in Alabama history was staged near Brewton Monday. In a one-day drive, 792 hunters took an officially registered total of 129 bucks, and shot 173 squirrels in addition.
Starting Wednesday afternoon, Neal's sixth annual Junior Invitational Basketball Tournament will open when Henley Roberts plays Wallace. Then, for three full days, 15 teams from six counties will play it out on the boards at the Neal gym.
Four post-season football games which will be played in various parts of the country will be broadcast over WEBJ during the next few days.
Awards for outstanding decorations of homes have been made this year by the Civic League. Mrs. Bryars Byrd won first prize in the group of homes with interiors decorated for viewing from the outside, Mrs. Oscar Gordon won for the most attractively decorated doorway and window, Otto Hammonds won first prize in the exterior decorations.
