United Fund exceeds goal

United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton surpassed its fundraising goal for 2006, organization president Sandy English said Tuesday.
The organization set a fundraising goal of $90,000 with which to fund 15 local agencies when it kicked off its 2006 fund drive in October. English said Tuesday that United Fund has raised more than $100,000 to date, and has not yet received contributions from all who normally contribute.
Agencies benefiting from United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton include the Brewton Area YMCA; American Red Cross - East Escambia County Chapter; Girl Scouts-Deep South Council; Brewton Public Library; Brewton Parks and Recreation Department; Escambia County Mental Health Association; Boy Scouts- Gulf Coast Council; East Brewton Youth Sports; Southwest Alabama Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board; Escambia County Cooperative Library System; Alabama Cooperative Extension System; Disabled Children and Adults - Brewton Chapter; Hope Place Family Resource; Kid One Transport and Christian Community Benevolent Fund.
