Over the last 28 minutes Flomaton outscored the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers.
That did not matter much though, as the Lady Tigers began Friday's home game with a 14-0 blitz and cruised to a 52-40 win over the Lady Hurricanes.
On a night where they combined for 41 of their team's 52 points, Joy McCorvey (four buckets) and Jasmine Sanford (three buckets) accounted for all 14 points during the initial surge. Sanford went on to finish with a game high 22 points, while McCorvey came away with 19.
The rest of the night was cruise control for the Lady Tigers, who boosted their season record to 15-3. They maintained their original 14-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 18-4, and held a solid 32-19 lead at halftime. An 11-6 scoring edge in the third quarter knocked it up to 43-25.
T.R. Miller returns to Class 3A Area 1 action Tuesday when it hosts W.S. Neal.

Lady Tigers win Area opener
T.R. Miller opened its Class 3A Area 1 season and snapped a two-game losing streak in the process with Tuesday's 64-53 road win over the Clarke County Lady Bulldogs.
T.R. Miller got off to a sluggish start and fell behind 9-2 in the first three minutes of the game and still trailed 18-16 10 seconds into the second quarter.
A pair of three-pointers by Keya Peterson, who drained four treys in the first half, not only put the Lady Tigers ahead for good but started a 22-2 outburst that put T.R. Miller firmly in control with a 38-20 lead in the opening moments of the third quarter.
Peterson's 12 points were a welcome site for the Lady Tigers after Jasmine Sanford and Joy McCorvey had accounted for 72 of the team's 78 points in the two previous games.
Despite the Lady Tigers' big surge, their work was not done.
Sparked by three field goals, two of which were three-pointers, by Audrie Denson, Clarke County (9-8 overall and 0-1 in the Area) closed the gap to 47-39 by the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs then narrowed the gap to just 47-41 on Celest Snell's field goal a minute into the fourth quarter.
Two free throws by Jasmine Sanford, who scored a game high 24 points, and a bucket by Joy McCorvey quickly got the lead back into double digits.
After a free throw by Snell briefly cut the lead to 51-42, a basket by Donya Grice put the T.R. Miller lead back into double digits where it stayed the rest of the game.
