Two big changes will highlight this year's W.S. Neal spring training workouts.
The first big change is the time of spring training. The Blue Eagles have held their spring workouts in May the last couple of years, but this year workouts have been moved to February. Workouts will start February 1 and continue through February 24.
There will be a brief conflict during the early days of spring training for players involved in basketball. W.S. Neal plays at Flomaton February 3 and participates in the Area Tournament the following week.
The other big change from a year ago is how spring workouts will end. W.S. Neal capped off last season's workouts with a game against Hillcrest-Evergreen. This year there will be no game against an outside opponent although there will be an intrasquad scrimmage game on the last day of workouts.
W.S. Neal will play a fall exhibition game August 24 when the Blue Eagles travel to Andalusia.
It marks the third straight year W.S. Neal has travelled for a preseason game with a trip to Hillcrest last year and to Andalusia in 2003.
T.R. Miller football will have its spring training February 6-17. The Tigers will have their Red/White Game February 17.
W.S. Neal Middle School has rescheduled its athletic awards night for January 26 at 6 p.m. at the school cafeteria.
T.R. Miller will hold its football awards night Thursday at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Brewton.
The T.R. Miller Tigers baseball team will have a parents meeting February 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Field House.
