Forest products brought Escambia County farmers 50 percent of their 1955 gross income, according to an estimate made by County Agent Fred A. Rew.
Bids will be asked soon for the construction of a two-story addition to the First Presbyterian Church in Brewton, according to Leon Mantel of the building committee. The new addition will be erected on the southern side of the church to the rear.
Work will begin Monday or Tuesday on preparing the site for a new $30,000,000 paper mill to be built here by Container Corporation of America.
A 10th grade student at Neal school, Sarah Mantel, is county winner in this year's Birmingham News oratorical contest.
New markers will soon go up at the intersections of all streets in Brewton, according to City Superintendent J. P. Dawson. Dawson said the city has placed an order for new steel markers, with steel standards.
