Man and Woman of the Year awards were presented to Fred and Sybil Mitchell during Tuesday night's Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Ernest White, 26, of Flomaton, became the youngest elected judge in recent Alabama history Monday when he was sworn in as Escambia County district judge. Retiring Judge Hugh Rozelle administered the oath of office.
Escambia County Commission Chairman Devon Wiggins and Commissioners Houston Baker and Aubrey Adams were sworn into office Monday by Probate Judge Martha Kirkland. The commission members were re-elected to four-year-terms in the Democratic Primary.
Escambia County Junior Miss Theresa Graves, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Graves, represented the county at the state pageant in Montgomery.
New T.R. Miller High School athletic director and head coach Mike Sasser assumed tuities last week.
