The Auburn University Singers are set to perform in Brewton Tuesday evening. Brewton Council of the Arts will present the Auburn University Singers, an auditioned group of 32 singers and nine instrumentalists, under the direction of Dr. Thomas R. Smith, Director of Choral Activities.
The group was founded in 1972 for the purpose of adding an extra dimension to choral music at Auburn University. Since that time, the group has been in constant demand, performing for television specials (NBC Today Show), conventions, community concerts and various events.
The group has entertained guests from all over the country and abroad. This entertaining group has a spirit of its own which it shares each time it performs, whether at home, around the world or in Brewton.
Their performance will be held at Jefferson Davis Community College Auditorium on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at 7 p.m. Advanced Although Kim Wilson,, president of the Brewton Council of the Arts, has not heard the group, she is looking forward to the performance.
Tammy Robinson, who is a member of the Council, agrees.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, $15 for adults and $8 for students. Student tickets may be purchased for a reduced rate at school through the choral director. Season tickets with the Brewton Council of the Arts include this performance.
