The Jefferson Davis Community College volleyball program has the first member of its 2006 recruiting class in the books.
The Lady Warhawks have signed Megan Petrie, a 5-5 setter from Milton (Fla.).
At this time, JDCC still has three scholarship spots open.
Nims, who also coaches the JDCC softball program, has also made a couple of early signings in that sport.
The Lady Warhawks have signed Childersburg High School first baseman Chasity Nicholson.
Also headed to JDCC is West Florida Technical School first baseman/third baseman Angela Thomas.
Nims admits it is a gamble for a school to sign players before their senior season starts.
Nims figures to have a lot of recruiting to do to restock the JDCC softball program, which loses seven sophomores this spring.

Former T.R. Miller running back Tim Atcher will get a chance to continue his career at Tennessee Tech.
Atcher played for T.R. Miller through his junior season and led the Tigers in rushing in 2004. This past season Atcher played at Fort Campbell (Ky.) High School where he rushed for 1,200 yards. Fort Campbell compiled a 12-1 record and was ranked number one in the state throughout the season. Atcher was selected to play in the Kentucky Western Conference All-Star Game.
Atcher is moving on to a Tennessee Tech program that finished 4-7 this past season, 3-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
