A Brewton woman was fatally injured in a two-car accident that occurred over the weekend. Two other local individuals in a separate vehicle were injured.
According to Public Information Officer Doris Teague with the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Judy Mae Strength, 44, of Brewton, was driving a 2001 Saturn when it collided with a 2003 Buick driven by 57-year-old Janice Marie Martin, also of Brewton. Virginia Brittingham, 8, was a passenger in Martin's vehicle.
The accident occurred on Feb. 4 at 6:35 p.m., seven miles west of Brewton on County Road 67, also known as Wild Fork Road.
Martin and Brittingham were injured and taken to D.W. McMillan Hospital and later released.
Teague said that the accident is still under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers Department.
Teague could not confirm whether alcohol or drugs were a factor and didn't have other details regarding how the accident occurred.
Strength was born in Milton, Fla., and had been a resident of Brewton for most of her life. She was a homemaker and attended Calvary Mennonite Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Glenn &#8220Rocky” Strength. Mr. Strength died last July after an extended illness.
She is survived by a son, Terry Joseph Strength of Brewton, and two daughters, Jennifer Strength of Fort Worth, Texas, and April Strength of Brewton, five brothers, two-half brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Terry Joseph and April Strength attend T.R. Miller High School. They are currently staying with friends of the family.
