Travel from Brewton to East Brewton was halted around mid-morning Wednesday after flood waters continued to rise, forcing the closing of both Murder Creek bridges. Some six inches of rainfall were recorded.
Escambia County commissioners this week voted to join Conecuh and Baldwin counties in formation of a Gulf Coast District Health Department.
Preliminary planning on a program to renovate and rehabilitate the existing sewerage system in Brewton was the main item of discussion at the Tuesday City Council meeting. The overall plan would include renovation of three pumping stations, installing another pumping station cleaning lines and stopping holes.
