As a child, having a hot dog supper was one of my favorite meals. As a matter of fact, when I was a child, my mother let us choose what the family had for the main meal on our birthday. I usually chose hot dogs with all the trimmings: onions, sauerkraut, pickles, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise. Thankfully, my son is following in my footsteps. He loves a hot dog as much as I do. Amazingly enough, he even thinks it just HAS to have sauerkraut to be good. That's my boy.
Hot dogs, or wieners, or franks, whatever you call them, can be very versatile. There are regular hot dogs, chili dogs, kraut dogs, beer dogs (remember Lums?), and the list goes on and on. And the fact is, I pretty much like it all. Well there is one exception: chili dogs. I don't care for chili dogs that much, but I will eat them (especially if you cover the chili with cheese - sorry Dr. Marsha). And a sausage dog is almost as good if you smother it with saut
