The Escambia County Steer Show will be held on Thursday, March 2, at the Brewton Stockyard.
The show will begin at 1 p.m. and the chatter of the Auctioneer, Dr. Phillip Hardee, will begin the sale at 6:30 p.m.
The show and sale is the culmination of a project that began last summer for 13 young people.
The 4-H'ers and FFA members have worked hard and sacrificed free time to produce a quality product.
I have seen the calves and all of them have done a good job caring for their animals.
The show will afford these young people the opportunity to show off their fine work and hopefully, through the help of sponsors and premium buyers, make some money on their projects.
Most of the buyers at the premium sale will allow the calves to be resold at market price on Saturday, March 4, at the Brewton Stockyard.
This is an opportunity to purchase a wonderful freezer calf.
These animals are heavily muscled and they will yield a higher percentage of usable beef than typical slaughter animals. Arrangements can be made to transport the calves to a processing facility.
The show, the premium sale and the resale will all be fun for the whole family.
You may want to get with some friends and buy one of these quality animals for the freezer.
This year's exhibitors are: Jonathan Bailey, Mason Caraway, Miranda Caraway, Brittany Daniel, Chelsea Daniel, Cody Daniel, James Dean, Jon Dean, Rachel Fuller, Trent Lambert, Josh Lambeth, Logan Williamson and Spencer Williamson.
