Mrs. Bessie Mae Burch Weaver, 90, of St. Nicholas Avenue, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006. She was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton and was a kindergarten teacher and business woman. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Brewton, the Brewton Civic League, Eastern Star and a Girl Scout leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy. H. Weaver Sr. and a grandson, Roy H. Weaver III.
She is survived by two sons, Roy (Sybil) Weaver Jr. of Andalusia, and Lawrence (Karen) Weaver of Brewton; one daughter, June (Bob) Martin of Brewton; two brothers, Leon Burch of Mobile and Norman Burch of Grand Bay; four sisters, Vivian Milligan and Janell Winchester, both of Brewton, Doris Collins of Largo, Fla., and Clara Foss of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Brewton with the Rev. Jack Fitts and the Rev. John Finklea officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery on Appleton Road with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Robert Martin, James Martin, Blake Martin, Mark Ingram, Marcus Ingram, Jay Coker and Cavin Cawthon.
