Kerry Whipple Bean has been named president of Brewton Newspapers Inc. and publisher of The Brewton Standard and The Escambia Advertiser. 
She succeeds Michele Gerlach, who has been named president of Andalusia Newspapers, Inc., and publisher of The Andalusia Star-News.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Bean is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and minored in journalism. For the past three years she has worked as editor of The Natchez (Miss.) Democrat. She previously served as managing editor at The Alexander City Outlook.
In Natchez, Bean served on the boards for both the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. She is also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
She and her husband, Josh, will be relocating to Brewton.
