Mrs. Mavis Long Parker, 80, of Forrest Avenue in East Brewton, died Friday, March 10, 2006, in a local nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Birmingham and a longtime resident of East Brewton. She was a member of East Brewton First Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper.
She is survived by a son, Howell (Elaine) Parker of East Brewton; a daughter, Christina (Jeff) Booker of Brewton; three brothers, Bruce Long of Brewton, Billy Long of Tallahassee, Fla., and Rex Long of Statham, Ga.; one sister, Ruby Jean Wheeler of Brewton; three grandchildren, Brandon (Trease) Booker, David Madden and Heather Madden, and two great granchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Sunday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Rex Long and Speaker Billy Long officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel directing.
