The T.R. Miller Tigers know the Montgomery Academy Eagles very well. It has been Montgomery Academy that has knocked T.R. Miller from the postseason field the last two seasons, which included a quarterfinal round ouster last season.
It was also Montgomery Academy that ended the Tigers quest for an undefeated season Saturday with a 6-1 victory in the state's capital city.
The Tigers also know Eagles pitcher Tripp Swann and slugger Davis Wedgeworth very well too.
Swann, who has shut down T.R. Miller down in the postseason the last two years, tossed a four-hitter and struck out 12 Saturday.
Wedgeworth also left a lasting impression Saturday when he belted three homeruns with two-run pokes in the first and third innings and a solo blast in the sixth off Tigers pitcher Mackie Jackson.
The first and the third homeruns barely got over, but that second one was a no-doubter,”

Down 5-0 at the time, T.R. Miller got its lone run in the top of the sixth when Mikel Riggs singled, stole second and scored on an error when Tanner Shehan struck out.
Jordan Cauley, Becker Denton and Allen Williams had the other hits for T.R. Miller with one each.
Later in the day T.R. Miller (6-1) overcame another strong pitching performance when it squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats.
Trinity pitcher John McQueen also struck out 12 Tigers and allowed only five hits, but T.R. Miller pitcher Baxley Raines was also tough on the mound. Raines scattered six hits and struck out seven in his first mound action in eight days.
The Tigers knocked across a run in the top of the first inning when Cauley singled, moved up a base on Raines' groundout and scored on Denton's RBI single.
Woody Parramoore's RBI single in the bottom of the second tied the game at 1-1, but T.R. Miller scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the third when Shehan singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Denton.
Denton had two of T.R. Miller's five hits and both RBIs. Shehan, Cauley and Williams all had one hit.
The Tigers, who played at Andalusia Tuesday, are back in action Saturday when they play at UMS-Wright with a junior varsity game at 12 noon followed by the varsity game at 2 p.m.
