Party heads: Interest up in elections

Party chairmen in Escambia County expect more interest in this year's elections with the number of offices on the ballot - and both hope it helps their cause.
Republican chairman Mike Edwards said he hopes Gov. Bob Riley's popularity draws more Republicans to the ballot - which would help local GOP candidates, he said.
Both parties are in the qualification period for local offices.
Local Democrats qualified as of Friday included:
