For the first time in three years, the event was held outside under blue skies and cool temperatures.
Teams were busy setting up their campsites, each displaying a holiday theme.
The Escambia County Helpers dedicated their campsite to Carla Redfearn's mother, Christine Mallard, who recently lost her battle with cancer.
The goal for this year's event was $58,000. As of Friday, the event had raised $49,000.
