The T.R. Miller Tigers football team still remains without a week 10 opponent for the upcoming season.
The Tigers were left looking for a week 10 opponent after Jay (Fla.) pulled out of that series after three seasons. The 2004 game between the schools was never played due to scheduling complications caused by Hurricane Ivan.
Riggs wants to find a home game for the week 10 spot. As of now, T.R. Miller only has four home dates, all of which are against Class 4A Region 1 teams. The Tigers currently have home dates against Southside-Selma on Sept. 8, Monroe County on Sept. 22, Jackson on Oct. 13 and W.S. Neal on Oct. 27.
T.R. Miller currently has five road games scheduled for next season with trips to Clarke County on Sept. 1, Escambia County on Sept. 15, Straughn on Sept. 29, Thomasville on Oct. 6 and Hillcrest-Evergreen on Oct. 20.
Any possible T.R. Miller opponent will probably have a fairly sizeable road trip since most schools in this area have now gone on the schedule in the newly revised Class 4A Area 1.
Riggs did not rule out the possibility of turning to Florida again for a week 10 foe.
While the ideal situation would be to have a home-and away series against an opponent with the home game to be played at T.R. Miller this season, that might not be an option.
Another option is for T.R. Miller remain idle for week 10.
