Mr. Owen Harold Carroll, 91, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at his church. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County and retired from St. Regis Paper Company in 1976 after many years of services. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. and of Dixonville Full Gospel Church. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mildred Dewberry Carroll, Louise Buckner Carroll and Lillie Gray Carroll; a brother, Grady Carroll, and a sister, Euniva Mills.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Carroll of Pace, Fla., and Larry Carroll of Brewton; two daughters, Ouida Moye of Dothan and Reba Faye Carroll of Brewton; one brother, Clyde Carroll of Cantonment, Fla.; one sister, Hazel Schad of Milton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernie Calhoun and the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Dewayne Carroll, Woody Jackson, Charles Thompson, David Thomas, Gary Nelson, Wendall Thomas, Dennis Adams and Keith Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Pogue Thompson, John Wilson, W.C. Brantley, Alex Brantley, Daniel Thomas, Danny Nelson, Julius Neese and Will Frank Davis.
