Acting on an anonymous tip, the Brewton Police Department Tuesday busted two businesses in Brewton allegedly operating illegal gaming machines.
Twenty-two slot machines were found to have been operating at one point at two local businesses, Police Chief Monte McGougin said.
According McGougin, five slot machines were found at Mom and Pops, which is located at 1000 Douglas Ave., and 17 slot machines were found at Nan and Terry's Place, which is located at 104 W. Jackson St.
McGougin said he told the two business owners they had three days from Tuesday to get rid of the illegal gambling machines and never bring them back.
If they do not comply, McGougin said everyone affiliated with the gaming operation would be arrested, and the entire business would be shut down.
According to state law, anytime a person plays a machine of chance, it's illegal.
