Information concerning a proposed rental housing project in East Brewton surfaced this week when residents of the community learned that members of the East Brewton governing body had participated in some preliminary groundwork relative to funding the project.
Retiring Escambia County Superintendent of Education Harry L. Weaver was honored at a reception at Escambia County High School in Atmore.
Volunteers will be participating in the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce's Clean Up Day Saturday. Civic groups, churches and students assisted in Saturday's project.
Susan R. Peevy was first place winner at the Annual Elks Oratorical Contest held in Mobile.
A Health Fair sponsored by the East Escambia County Chapter of the American Red Cross, with services offered by a number of organizations, was held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week at Brewton First Baptist Church.
