Mr. Roosevelt William Sanders Sr., 72, died Sunday, March 26, 2006. He was a native of Oakman, a member of Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church where he served in the choir and as a deacon. He had been employed with T.R. Miller Mill for 24 years until his retirement in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Everlena Sanders; a daughter, Diane Sanders Porterfield; a sister, Mary E. Swint and a brother, Charlie (Mary) Sanders.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Sanders of Brewton and Vanessa (Charles) Ragland of Milton, Fla.; one son, Roosevelt W. (Darlene) &#8220Billy” Sanders Jr. of Corinth, Texas; four sisters, Catherine (James) Windham, Hallie Sanders, Everlena Hayes and Margaret Sanders; five brothers, James Sanders, Charles Hackman, Thomas (Vera) Sanders, Major (Vera) Sanders and Lloyd (Johnnie) Sanders; a former wife, Linstina Woods; six grandchildren, K. Phillip Porterfield and K. Phillis (Stacy) Whitehurst, both of Montgomery, Candie Scott of Omaha, Neb., and Ashley, William and Xavier Sanders, all of Corinth, Texas; one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
