Residents and business owners in Brewton were without phone lines late Wednesday afternoon when a contractor inadvertently cut the BellSouth cable near the intersection of Hwy. 31 and County Road 41 in Brewton.
Homes and businesses south of the intersection and north along County Road 41 all the way to I-65 were out of service for up to 48 hours.
Without phone lines, some businesses were unable to conduct business and were under a lot of stress.
Many local shops conduct business through fax and telephone, thus making it hard to receive or send orders.
As of 7 p.m. Thursday, Armbrecht said all the phone lines had been restored.
