Students at Brewton City Schools could already assume they'd get into big trouble for making a false crime report at school.
Now the school board is just making it official.
The school board Monday proposed an addition to the student code of conduct making false reporting of fire, explosion, crime or catastrophe a rule infraction.
Superintendent Lynn Smith said a false report by a student a couple of months ago led to the change.
The new rule will be reviewed by faculty and parent advisory groups before being formally adopted by the school board.
The school board also proposed additions to the student handbooks Monday, including a policy designed to prohibit elementary school students from wearing popular &#8220Crocs” shoes during P.E. class. The backless rubber shoes pose a danger when children are involved in activities, Smith said.
