A Flomaton man was charged with drunk driving, and he and two other people were injured in two separate accidents last week in Brewton.
Donnie Odom, 58, was driving a 1995 Ford pickup in the wrong lane of Highway 31 Tuesday night when he hit an 18-wheeler head-on, according to Sgt. Eric Suarez of the Brewton Police Department.
Odom was charged with driving under the influence. He hit an 18-wheel Roadway truck driven by Lee Cornett, 58, of Meridian, Miss.
The accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the Diamond station. According to Suarez, Cornett had missed his turn at Smurfit-Stone and was making a turn to go back south when he met Odom head-on.
Odom then swerved off the highway and went about 150 yards before plowing into a couple of Bunny Bread trucks, which were parked.
Both of the bread trucks were damaged, and one was totaled.
Odom was transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Cornett was not injured, Suarez said.
An earlier accident occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday when Casandra Davidson, 46, of Century, Fla., was driving a 1999 Chevy Malibu on Alco Drive toward the traffic light on Highway 31.
The other vehicle, a 1995 Chevy pickup, was driven by Ida Boutwell, 78, of Flomaton.
According to Sgt. Eric Suarez, both drivers thought they had a green light and collided. Both drivers were taken to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Davidson was charged with driving with a suspended license, Suarez said.
