After an ongoing investigation, officers arrested two people and charged them with possession and distribution of the prescription drug OxyContin.
Agents with the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force accompanied by officers from the Brewton Police Department, the Flomaton Police Department and deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff's Department arrested on Thursday, Memphis Shane Riddle, 36, and Robin Lynn Lambeth, 33, and charged both with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance - a Class B Felony.
According to a news release, Riddle's address is 43275 Hwy. 31, Brewton, and Lambeth's address is 125 Ed Thomas Road, Atmore.
As of late Friday, Riddle and Lambeth were still being held at the Escambia County Detention Center. Bond had been set for $25,000 each.
Task Force Cmdr. Keith Hutchins was unavailable for comment Friday afternoon.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice and is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's office.
