Jolesia Likely accounted for 28 points and Rachel Davis accounted for another 23 to help lead the W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles to a runner-up finish in Thursday's Class 3A Track Sectional held at St. Paul's High School in Mobile.
W.S. Neal tallied 89 points in the meet, second only to champion Montgomery Academy's 177. The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers finished fourth out of six teams with 72.
Likely accounted for two of W.S. Neal's four first place marks, as she claimed the high jump at 4-4 and the triple jump at 32-5 1/2. She also had a second place performance in the long jump.
Davis edged T.R. Miller's Ashley Williams for first place in the 100 meter dash at 13.28. Davis was also runner-up in the 200 meters and fourth in the long jump.
Tierra Andrews accounted for W.S. Neal's other first place with a throw of 79-7 in the javelin.
Second place state qualifiers for the Lady Blue Eagles included Likely in the long jump at 15-6 1/2 and Davis in the 200 meter dash at 28.01.
Courtney Scott gave the Lady Tigers their lone win in the shot put with a heave of 26-11.
Second place state qualifiers for T.R. Miller included Scott in the discus at 65-5 and Williams in the 100 meter dash at 13.45.
The state meet will be Thursday and Friday at Oak Mountain High School.
