If the 6-5 win posted by the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers over the host Straughn Lady Tigers Friday is a preview of this Friday's Class 3A Area 1 Softball Tournament championship round, it should be quite an entertaining matchup.
T.R. Miller, the top seed for the Area Tournament, trailed second-seeded Straughn 5-2 headed into the top of the seventh inning when it strung together a winning four-run rally.
The key blows in the seventh inning comeback were singles by Haley Rilling, Terri Lynne Peacock, Leigh Cooper, Catherine Layton and Emily Layton.
The Lady Tigers (11-5) dropped a 3-2 decision at home to Pleasant Home Thursday.
T.R. Miller was led by Leslie Nalty's two hits and one RBI. Rilling, Taelor Robinson and Emily Layton all adder a hit.
The Lady Tigers notched their second win in five days over visiting Escambia County Tuesday by a 7-1 margin.
Rilling triggered the offensive attack with a pair of hits and two runs scored. Robinson also had two hits and added an RBI. Rachel Bostic contributed an RBI triple.
Cooper was the pitcher of record in all three of T.R. Miller's contests.
The Lady Tigers conclude regular season play Tuesday when they host J.U. Blacksher at 4 p.m.
