The T.R. Miller High School student council represented their school and community recently in the 2006 Alabama Student Council Conference in Birmingham.
TRM has served, along with Red Level, as host school for the past two years.
The conference was held at the Winfrey Hotel and students participated in various events and listened to speakers such as Alabama Attorney General Troy King.
T.R. Miller students presented a powerpoint presentation about the city of Brewton and T.R. Miller High School and why they would love to serve as the President School for 2006-2007.
They were elected to be the president school for the coming year. Sharon Peacock, TRM sponsor, and Kendell Smith, President School representative, will receive an expense paid trip to Pennsylvania for the National Association of Student Council Convention.
Our community would have been very proud of the presentation our students made at the political rally. We will set the pace for student leadership throughout the state of Alabama this year. We are going to host a regional student council workshop at TRM in August or September.
Out goal is to help increase membership in the southern part of the state. We will be responsible for creating a theme and helping to organize the state convention for 2007.
It is a huge responsibility and this year's convention will be hard to top, but I believe in the students at TRM and the great community of Brewton.”
