All the hard work and studying finally paid off for high school seniors this year. W.S. Neal High School announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2005-2006 school year.
Andrea King earned a 4.5208 GPA to become this year's valedictorian. King, daughter of Renee Nelson, said her favorite teacher was Mrs. Knowles, her hardest course was honors economics and her future plans are to attend Jefferson Davis Community College and later attend the University of Alabama in Birmingham to study medicine.
King received several special honors, which allowed her to attend Alabama Girls State, be named UCA All-Star cheerleader and attend the Southern Pine Washington, D.C., youth tour.
She was involved in many activities throughout her high school career, including Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Neal Eagle Ambassador, Student Council, Co-Captain for the Varsity Cheerleading team, was recognized as Who's Who Among American High School Students and will be a JDCC cheerleader next year.
King offers some solid advice for the incoming freshmen.
Brenna Nicole Ball earned a 4.431 GPA to become this year's salutatorian. Ball is the daughter of Miles and Weena Ball. She said her favorite teacher was Mrs. Jerkins and the hardest course she took was honors economics.
Ball's superlatives, voted by her peers, were Most Intellectual and Most Likely to Succeed. She plans to attend JDCC and later transfer to Auburn University. Ball was involved in various extracurricular activities, including captain of the varsity cheerleading team, National Honor Society member, Mu Alpha Theta president and student government vice president, and she spent her weekends as a Sunday school teacher.
Ball summed up her advice for incoming freshmen in one sentence.
