Mr. Fred Lee McGhee, 56, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at a Mobile hospital. He was the Tribal Chairman for the Poarch Creek Indians. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Treacy Ellis McGhee; a brother, Leo McGhee and three sisters, Imogene Sheets, Carlie Dalrymple, Donna McGhee White.
He is survived by three sons, Greg (Susan) McGhee of Atmore, and Joey (Christine) McGhee and Fred Lee McGhee Jr., both of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Tracy McGhee and Cierra McGhee, both of Atmore; eight sisters, Martha Wilson, Helen Hallman, Deloris (Jerry) Kelley, Velma Crocker, Eldnar (Shirley) McGhee, Myrtis (David) Kinman, Judy McGhee and Eva Nell Burkett, all of Atmore; four grandchildren, Dustin and Dylan McGhee, Chasity McGhee and Kaylee Davidson, special friends, Jennifer Lucas, Stephanie Ledkins, Ernestine Browning and Francis Walters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Harlan Morgan and the Rev. C.E. Pylant officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery in Poarch. Pallbearers will be Scott Jackson, Ryan Exum, Steven McGhee, Derrick McGhee, Christopher Allison and Arthur Mothershed. Honorary pallbearers will be The Tribal Council, Buford Rollin, Patricia Hodges, Daniel McGhee, Robert McGhee, Rodney Exum, Eddie Tullis, Helen Hallman and Arthur Mothershed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Poarch Creek Indians, 5811 Jack Springs Road, Atmore, Ala. 36502.
