Wheels for the World, a Christian based ministry, is answering the call to furnish wheelchairs to those in need in developing countries.
The World Health Organization estimates a worldwide need for 18 million wheelchairs.
This is a need for those who live where the cost of a wheelchair could equal a year's wages.
Joni Eareckson Tada, who suffered a crippling injury, which left her in a wheelchair, started the program 30 years ago and today volunteer run it.
Michael Rowell of Brewton is the local coordinator for the project for a large portion of the Southeast.
