Prayers and good wishes are with two teenagers severely injured in a wreck over the Memorial Day weekend, family members said.
Terri Lynne Peacock and Mary Catherine Turner are recovering from their injuries, their families said.
Turner, 16, was driving a 2003 BMW when the car left the road near Kirkland and hit a telephone pole and two trees.
She sustained a double break to her left pelvis and still cannot bear any weight on that side.
Peacock, 18, is still recovering at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
According to her sister, Jamie, Peacock is finally out of the intensive care unit. She suffered a shattered anklebone and has several fractured bones in her leg. She also had a possible head injury.
Peacock, who graduated last month from T.R. Miller High School, had received a scholarship to play softball at Jefferson Davis Community College in spring.
Turner had been thrown from the car in the accident, while rescue workers had to extract Peacock from the BMW with the Jaws of Life.
An official with the Alabama State Troopers said Friday the accident is still under investigation.
The girls were not discovered until at least an hour after the wreck, which occurred about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
The accident spawned another incident as well. At 2:45 a.m. another vehicle, a 1996 Ford, driven by Gregory Stanton of Evergreen ran over the fallen telephone pole at the scene of the accident, causing his tire to blow.
