Panama City, Fla.
Mr. George Albert Jokela, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at a Panama City hospital. He was a native of Jennings, Mich., He was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific and in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mattye Ingram Jokela.
He is survived by his sons, Bill (Jane Hughes) of Annandale, Va. And Al (Carol) of Brewton; his granddaughters: Vangie Gill of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Aegina Jokela of Mobile; grandsons: Bill Jokela (Saori) of Yokota, Japan and Kevin Jokela of Mobile; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Moffett officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery with military honors in Valdosta, Ga. with Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home of Panama City directing.
