Chris Griffin admits he was not a very active member during his early years with the T.R. Miller Quarterback Club.
Griffin's involvement has changed drastically the last couple of years. Last year he became the organization's vice-president. This past spring he was elevated to the president's position.
T.R. Miller Quarterback Club membership dropped briefly after Hurricane Ivan struck in 2004, but has since picked back up. The organization had 225 members last year. Griffin would like to approach 250 members for the next calendar year, which starts August 1. Family membership is $20 for one year.
Griffin admits many of the Quarterback Club's members are like he used to be, someone who would pay his annual dues with little or no involvement otherwise.
Griffin said the other way to get more people involved is to simply ask them.
The Quarterback Club is already involved with one of its biggest annual fundraisers, the football program. Griffin hopes most ads for the program will be reserved by the end of June.
Griffin hopes the Quarterback Club will have several support items available for the upcoming football season.
Griffin said a common misconception of the Quarterback Club is all funds generated go towards football.
Griffin said one of the most important items for the upcoming year is organization and coordination.
