Mrs. Mittie Edna Ryland O'Bannon, 93, of College Drive, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at a local nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native and former resident of Conecuh County before moving to Brewton in 1968. She was a retired hairdresser and homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks O'Bannon who owned and operated the Flomaton Journal before coming to Brewton and being involved with The Brewton Standard.
She is survived by three step-daughters, Kitty O'Bannon Reynolds of Brewton, Sara (Earl) Self of Barnett Crossroads and Sue (Floyd) Grice of East Brewton; five nieces, Ocie Robinson of Mesquite, Texas; Regena Kelly of Repton; Margaret Rowell of Monroeville and Marion Rogers of Mississippi; one nephew, Roy Miller of Muscle Shoals; six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
