The Alabama Blueberry Festival's move to historic downtown Brewton suited Tammy Scroggins and Chris Peacock just fine.
With room to stretch out among parking lots, streets and the park, the 26th annual Blueberry Festival was a success, chamber of commerce director Judy Crane said.
The festival, as always, offered something for everyone.
Fathers and sons - and more than a few mothers and daughters - poked their heads under antique car hoods, while a motorcycle show drew out-of-town riders.
A long line of vendors sold beaded jewelry, original artwork, purses, children's clothes and even roasted ears of corn.
And, of course, the Lions Club - founders of the festival - sold T-shirts, while the Kiwanis Club dished up blueberry cobbler, blueberry ice cream and other treats.
Looking at jewelry with her daughter, Deborah LaCost - a regular festival-goer - said she was pleased with the changes.
Felecia Hearst, of Mobile, brought her jewelry to the festival.
Downtown merchants seemed to be getting some attention as well, with visitors and residents strolling the boardwalk as several stores remained open and offered sales.
Richard Mobley and his wife, a Brewton native, made the trip from Montgomery for their first Blueberry Festival. Mobley was impressed by the atmosphere - and the antique cars.
