The City of East Brewton will soon have a new fire truck.
The East Brewton City Council Monday awarded a bid for the purchase of a mini pumper for the East Brewton Fire Department. The bid was awarded to Fouts Brothers of Smyrna, Ga., for a 2006 Ford 550 mini pumper at a cost of $69,300.
The winning company will be contacted concerning delivery in the near future.
In other business, Councilman Wayne Howard brought attention to a curbing problem at the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Shoffner Street.
According to Steve Dunaway with the East Brewton Street Department, the problem is one that the State of Alabama Highway Department will have to handle.
Also during the meeting, City officials again discussed a problem with four-wheelers and go-carts. Mayor Terry Clark noted there are legal qualifications to use a vehicle on city streets.
Clark also explained that the East Brewton City Police has been instructed to begin giving warnings to those who continue the use of jack brakes inside the city limits.
The next meeting of the East Brewton City Council is scheduled for July 11 at 5:30 p.m.
