I hope you will enjoy the history of some of these places and if you have any more information about any of them, you will let me know.
There have to be plenty of folks who know more than I do and I don't want to leave anything out.
133 Saint Joseph Avenue
This was built in the early 1900s. It is a two-story brick building with two round bays. The first floor was rebuilt about 1970.
Three bays of second floor reglazed with plate glass and central round arched windows ventilator closed. Originally it was an open theater.
Mrs. Pauline Duke remembered going there as a child. According to an article in Escambia County Historical Quarterly, Vol. II, No. 1, around 1910 or 1911 The Vaudett Theatre was built.
I have a photo of the Vaudett Theatre that was made around 1911 and it looks very similar to the building at 117 Saint Joseph Avenue.
Later the building became Central Pharmacy and in 1935 Hilliard Moorman started his drug business there.
It was known for many years as the Moorman Drug Store building. Today it is the location of The Ritz.
It is opened up to expose the brick walls, and the stage of the old theater may be seen.
It is used today for private parties.

It was built about 1898 by C.Y. Mayo, mayor of Pollard and remodeled around 1970. It is a two-story brick building. During renovation in1970, the first floor was altered with metal trim and plate glass while the original upper level of the fa
