A little flour, a little shortening and some elbow grease can combine to make a wonderful, flaky crust just waiting to be filled with delicious ingredients.
Of course when people think of piecrusts they usually envision them filled with such delectable treats as lemon, coconut and chocolate creams. Others envision dark brown pies filled with pecans.
There are some other fillers for these crusty containers that contain no sweetness. Quiche, although sometimes prepared without a crust, is a wonderful savory pie. I also like tomato pie, tamale pie, chicken pot pie
