John Ferrell is proud of the progress the Country Club of Brewton has made during his two and a half years as club manager.
At the same time, Ferrell has many more aspirations he would like to reach in the not so distant future.
Like any business, one of the top goals is growth from within and the Country Club of Brewton has seen that since Ferrell's arrival in 2004.
Most of the Country Club of Brewton's members reside within a 30-mile radius.
Children are a big target area for future membership.
Another target area for membership is snowbirds, better known as the people who migrate south from the north during the winter months.
In addition to membership, Ferrell has also seen an increase in the number of tournaments the Country Club of Brewton hosts each year.
The biggest tournament the Country Club of Brewton currently hosts is the Boo Weekley Invitational, which will be held this year Aug. 4-5.
Ferrell, who previously served as vice-president/general manager at Blue Water Bay Resort in Niceville (Fla.), said country clubs have evolved into more than just a place to play golf in recent years.
Ferrell indicated probably the most popular area at the Country Club of Brewton is the facility's 300-yard driving range.
One of the toughest challenges Ferrell and his work crew face these days is keeping the grass on the course alive.
