Two Jefferson Davis Community College instructors recently attended the seventh annual Alabama Master Teacher Seminar. Cornelia Miller, accounting technology instructor, and Misti Nims physical education/health education instructor, completed the one-week intensive training session focused on improving teaching and learning in the two-year colleges throughout Alabama. Buddy Combs, a JDCC masonry instructor, served as a staff member.
Every year, each of the 27 two-year colleges in the Alabama College System is invited to nominate participants to attend the seminar. The selection process is competitive since many of Alabama's most outstanding two-year college instructors are nominated. The selection of Miller and Nims as participants is an honor for both the participant and the College.
This year's Alabama Master Teacher Seminar was held in Andalusia, Alabama, at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, June 18-22, with 26 instructors from throughout the state attending.
Throughout the week, instructors attended sessions focused on motivating students, innovative teaching strategies, listening techniques, teaching demonstrations, learning strategies, and more.
