Mr. Thomas P. Liles, 88, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in a local hospital. He was a native and life long resident of the Brewton area. He served, for a while, as an athletic coach for T.R. Miller High School and worked as a chemical foreman at Monsanto for a number of years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brewton.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Liles of Brewton; a son, T.P. &#8220Buddy” Liles of Destin, Fla.; a daughter, Susan Liles Gardner of Mobile and two grandchildren, Holly Suzanne Gardner and Gregory Neal Gardner, both of Atlanta.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Brewton Sunday, Aug. 6 from 2 p.m. until service time.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Brewton with Dr. Ed Glaize and the Rev. Frank Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Duncan Liles III, Lee Liles, Mark Sowell, Duncan Sowell, Sandy Sowell and Greg Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aldersgate Sunday school class. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the food pantry.
