Brewton native Jeffrey Caylor is celebrating an anniversary at the Coast Surgery, P.C. offices in Foley.
Caylor, along with his wife Linda, founded the center in July 1996, which was formerly known as South Baldwin Surgical Specialists. Family roots in the Brewton area prompted the decision to settle in southern Baldwin County.
Caylor is the son of Jerry and Liz Caylor of Brewton and the grandson of Mildred Parker and the late James Parker and the late Woodrow and Berniece Caylor.
After attending W.S. Neal Elementary School in East Brewton for a few years, Caylor moved with his family to Gretna, La. Later, while attending medical school, he did a rotation in Brewton with Drs. Jimmy Adkisson, Robert Smith and Salem Saloom.
Caylor is board certified in general surgery and performs many procedures. He has performed advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures including gallbladder, hiatal hernia and appendectomy. Minor surgeries he has performed include vasectomies, lesion removal and biopsies, which he performs in his office. Recently, he has advanced into the area of laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgeries, and was the first in southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle to perform this procedure.
Caylor's surgical practice has grown over the years since his practices recognizes and meets the surgical needs of the community.
Active in his community and church, Caylor is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Medical Association of the State of Alabama, Baldwin County Medical Society and other professional organizations. He is currently a staff physician and Chief of Staff at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. He will also begin providing surgical services at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope this month.
