Seniors at T.R. Miller High School welcomed a special visitor on Monday, Aug. 21.
Congress Jo Bonner stopped by the school and talked to the seniors about what is going on in Congress that affects them, then listened as the students asked questions.
The students had come prepared and the questions were met with honest answers from Bonner. He talked about things that were important to the students now and in the future. He also presented each student with a copy of the Constitution and a key chain.
He pointed out that many of them are 18 or nearing their 18th birthday and what that really means. He said that it is a very liberating milestone and among the rights they will have, will be the right to vote in upcoming elections.
Bonner also told the students the most important things facing Congress right now are the war in Iraq, immigration and the problem with energy sources.
