Mr. John Leon Burch, 88, died Tuesday Aug. 8, 2006 in a local healthcare facility. Mr. Burch was a native of Brewton and moved to Mobile in 1941, worked as a crane operator at Alabama Drydocks and Shipbuilding and retired with 41 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 37 years, Edith Hartley Burch; his second wife, of eight years, Ruby Mitchell Burch; his parents Lawrence and Bess Burch his brothers, Brent Burch and Tommy Burch and his sisters, Pauline Bryant, Lillian Marzack and Bessie Mae Weaver.
He is survived by a brother, Norman (Ruth) Burch of Grand Bay, his sisters, Vivian Milligan of Brewton, Doris Collins of Largo, FL, Janelle (Leo) Winchester of Brewton, Clara (Don) Foss of Oklahoma City, Okla.; caretakers Bob and Ann Necessary (nephew and niece) of Mobile, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held with Masonic Rites at Radney Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed at Joneshill Cemetery in Copeland at 3 p.m. with Radney Funeral Home directing.
