Brewton Youth Football teams sweep Cantonment

Brewton Youth Football League teams opened their season with a three-game sweep over visiting Cantonment, Fla. Saturday.
The Mini Mites posted the most lopsided margin of the three victories, as they ripped Cantonment 48-6.
Chardian Johnson had two touchdowns for Brewton, as he ran one in from 25 yards out. He also added a 15-yard scoring reception. Anterio Drakeford also had a pair of scores, one on a 30-yard run and the other on a 45-yard fumble recovery return. Quarterback Kellyn Winn had the longest scoring play, as he broke loose for a 57-yard run. Markail Mitchell and Da'Quain Kiser also scored touchdowns for the Mini Mites.
Christian Roye, Treylon Watson, Patrick Lovelace, Marcus Paul, Michael Emmons and Joseph Carpenter paced Brewton's defensive effort.
The Brewton Mites also won by a comfortable margin, as they downed Cantonment 36-6.
Quarterback Dillan Carpenter paced the Mites with three touchdowns and rushed for more than 100 yards. Dominique Jackson had touchdown runs of 45 and 35 yards. Keion Smith ripped off a 65-yard touchdown run.
The Mites' defense was led by Terry Samuel, Trae Walker, Michael Woods, Mykail Johnson and Jaylon Herbert.
The Brewton Midgets completed the sweep with a 6-0 win over Cantonment.
Calvin Matthews provided the only points of the game when he scored on a seven-yard run with just over three minutes left.
Sim Brown's six tackles led the Midgets defense. Rodney Nance, Jeffery McMillan, David Barragan, Zachary Haveard and Jamal Spears all had a key role in the shutout.
The Brewton teams will host Navarre Black Saturday. Play starts at 12 noon.
