JDCC volleyball comes up empty in season opener

Jefferson Davis Community College came up empty in its first volleyball competition of the season over the weekend, as the Lady Warhawks were swept in three games at the Southern Union Tournament.
JDCC dropped its opening match to Central Alabama by a 30-24, 32-30 decision.
Jessica Stafford led the Lady Warhawks with 10 kills, a pair of blocks and three aces. Ashley Willoughby and Lindi Thompson each added eight kills.
Bevill State downed the Lady Warhawks 30-23, 30-16 in the second match.
Willoughby matched her
eight kills from the opener, while Thompson had four. Tiffany Lively served up a pair of aces.
Defending Alabama Community College Conference champ Gadsden State beat JDCC 30-17, 30-22 in the Lady Warhawks' tournament finale.
Robyn Duncan had four kills to pace the Lady Warhawks, while Thompson had a pair of blocks and one assist.
JDCC, which played its home and ACCC opener Tuesday against Faulkner State, travels to Central Alabama Friday for a 5 p.m. match.
