Woodmen of the World's local lodge, in conjunction with the city of East Brewton, will hold an &#8220in honor and remembrance” ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at Fort Crawford Park in East Brewton.
Ceremonies will be held in the East Brewton Civic Center if it is raining.
The ceremony will remember those who lost their lives in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and those on flight 93 on a well-remembered day in our nation's history.
Among those who lost their lives in this national tragedy was Tamara Thurman, who was a former resident of Brewton.
Tribute will be paid to the military and those who lost their lives in combat. A special remembrance will be made for Brewton's Corporal Christopher Winchester, who was killed in Iraq July 14, 2005. Other honors will be held for those still in harm's way fighting the war against terrorism, our first responders here at home and the spirit of all Americans.
A flagpole, flag and memorial plaque will be dedicated as a reminder for everyone to &#8220never forget.”
Local Woodmen of the World representative Gary Robinson and East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark says the even is open to the public so that special recognition can be given.
